Nestled in a vibrant corner of Indianapolis’ urban core, Monon Yard is an emerging neighborhood that harmoniously blends the city's rich history with contemporary development. We are committed to nurturing strong connections with our neighbors, fostering a sense of community, and celebrating life in one of the city's fastest-growing areas. We warmly invite you to join us for our monthly neighborhood meetings and various activities throughout the year. Our neighborhood stretches from 25th Street to 30th Street and extends from College Avenue east to the Monon Trail.
A once industrial hub for the Monon and Nickel Plate rail roads is now an expanding neighborhood with historic home renovations and new urban residential construction. The Monon Yard Neighborhood offers many fresh possibilities for young families, single urban professionals, and couples looking for their first shared home.
We are a voluntary association and everyone is welcome to attend our monthly meetings. To be a voting member, dues are $36/person if paying by check and run from Jan-Dec of each year. A check made payable to "Monon Yard Neighborhood Association" can be paid at each meeting or you can use our venmo business account of: "Monon Yard Neighborhood Association" for $37 (they charge a fee for it being a business account!)

My wife, Sheri, and I built in the neighborhood in 2023 after moving from the NE side. We love the idea of being only minutes from downtown and of course all the bike/walking trails nearby. One thing that has really impressed us is how welcoming & friendly our small community has been. We are excited to be part of the Monon Yard Neighborhood!

As a young single male, I chose the Monon yards neighborhood because of its proximity to both the Monon & Fall Creek Trails, easy access to highways, far enough from downtown, it's quiet but yet close enough for spontaneously wild weekend. I love my neighbors and some of their 40+ years of dedication to my neighborhood.

I work downtown for IU and always wanted to be able to ride my bike to work so with the Monon Trail in our backyard, this was a perfect location (and our dog Sam approves). We have fallen in love with the neighborhood and have met so many wonderful people. Being just minutes from the hustle & bustle of downtown is an added bonus.

Melissa DeRoiser
Secretary
Melissa and family have called Monon Yard home since 2019. She loves the strong sense of community and serves as the neighborhood's secretary as well as communication lead, sharing updates, organizing events and helping stay connected. When she's not working her day job in aviation, she's usually with her daughter & husband exploring the neighborhood or working on their latest home project.

Our family has been part of this neighborhood for three years, and we were instantly captivated by the distinctive architecture of our home, built in 1923. We appreciate the close proximity to downtown, the Monon Trail, the Indianapolis Children's Museum, as well as the nearby parks and playgrounds.

I grew up on the westside of Indianapolis and have lived periodically on all sides of the city. After 27 years on the southside and raising our 3 children, my wife and I moved to Monon Yard 2.5 years ago. We were looking for an up and coming neighborhood in the city, close to the Monon Trail, with access to the downtown area for great coffee and restaurants. I am also an avid cyclist and runner so Monon Yard is a perfect fit. We also wanted a smaller house and yard now that all our kids are on their own so this neighborhood is a perfect fit. It will be exciting to watch the new growth that's already happening nearby including shops, restaurants and new homes.
