Neighborhood history

Nestled in a vibrant corner of Indianapolis’ urban core, Monon Yard is an emerging neighborhood that harmoniously blends the city's rich history with contemporary development. We are committed to nurturing strong connections with our neighbors, fostering a sense of community, and celebrating life in one of the city's fastest-growing areas. We warmly invite you to join us for our monthly neighborhood meetings and various activities throughout the year. Our neighborhood stretches from 25th Street to 30th Street and extends from College Avenue east to the Monon Trail.

A once industrial hub for the Monon and Nickel Plate rail roads is now an expanding neighborhood with historic home renovations and new urban residential construction. The Monon Yard Neighborhood offers many fresh possibilities for young families, single urban professionals, and couples looking for their first shared home.

We are a voluntary association and everyone is welcome to attend our monthly meetings.  To be a voting member, dues are $36/person if paying by check and run from Jan-Dec of each year.  A check made payable to "Monon Yard Neighborhood Association" can be paid at each meeting or you can use our venmo business account of:  "Monon Yard Neighborhood Association" for $37 (they charge a fee for it being a business account!)

Meet the Team

Gary Ruble

President

My wife, Sheri, and I built in the neighborhood in 2023 after moving from the NE side.  We like the idea of being only minutes from downtown and of course all the bike/walking trails nearby.

Ernst Hanohano

Vice President

As a young single male, I chose the Monon yards neighborhood because of its proximity to both the Monon & Fall Creek Trails, easy access to highways, far enough from downtown, it's quiet but yet close enough for spontaneously wild weekend.  I love my neighbors and some of their 40+ years of dedication to my neighborhood.

Barbara Alexander

Treasurer

Life long resident of the neighborhood and I have been actively involved in my community.

Courtny Gatza

Secretary

"My husband, Andrew, and I moved to the Monon Yard neighborhood in July 2020. One of the things I have come to love about Monon Yard is the sense of community we immediately felt from our neighbors. As the Monon Yard Board Vice President, I am excited to serve our growing community and move forward with the energy brought by neighbors both new and old."
