Keep Indy Beautiful day - May 9th

Join us on May 9th from 8 to 11 a.m. for our annual "Keep Indy Beautiful" Day, dedicated to enhancing the Monon Yard Neighborhood.

This year, we will focus on cleaning up the Monon Trail between 25th and 30th Streets. Meet us at 28th & the Monon at 8 a.m.

Please wear a bright shirt and bring a pair of gloves; we will provide trash bags and other supplies to assist you.

This is a fantastic opportunity to connect with your neighbors, so feel free to bring the little ones along!

The Board of Directors convened in January to strategize for the upcoming year, and we are excited to announce our first neighborhood meeting scheduled for February 10th at 7 PM. The meeting will take place at the Missionary Baptist Church, located in our neighborhood at 28th & College.

This meeting is open to all residents, and we warmly encourage you to invite a friend! It’s a great opportunity to learn about what’s happening in our community and to discover upcoming events.

On Tuesday, February 10th, representatives from IMPD provided an update on neighborhood activities. A local builder proposing 4-5 construction projects on MacPherson will also be present to discuss his request for a variance.

Additionally, our neighborhood has been awarded a $1,500 grant to engage our community, and will be using the money for a summer concert on the Monon Trail.

October 2025 Neighborhood meeting

We had an excellent turnout for our October meeting, with over 30 neighbors in attendance to hear the latest updates on the Monon 30 project currently underway between 30th St and Sutherland on the Monon Trail. The townhome foundations have been successfully laid, and the event center is on schedule to break ground in the spring of 2026. Additionally, we are excited to hear about the upcoming addition of pickleball and volleyball courts in the near future.

In addition to the update on growth in our area, we also were updated on plans for our community event "TRUNK OR TREAT" by our Communication Chair, Melissa, which will take place on Oct 31st from 6-8pm in the Triangle (28th & Guildford). Come join in, wear your favorite halloween outfit and bring the little ones for some spooky good fun with your neighbors.

Parking issues

Important Parking Reminder! The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) would like to remind everyone that parking is prohibited on the east side of Guilford Avenue between 25th and 28th Streets, as well as on the west side of Carrollton Avenue between 25th and 28th Streets. They are actively issuing tickets to violators, as parked vehicles on both sides of the narrow streets hinder two-way traffic.

Our Board needs your assistance! Join us in strengthening the Monon Yard Neighborhood by participating in the upcoming elections.

For the 2026 and 2027 terms, the following board positions are available for election:

- President
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- 2 At-Large Seats

To understand the responsibilities of each position, please refer to our by-laws located on the events page.

Nominations will be accepted until our meeting in November. All eligible voting members must have their dues paid in full prior to the election, and those wishing to run for a position in our voluntary association must hold a paid membership for the 2026 year.
